Meet the Doula

Hi! I’m Alisa and I’m a Pittsburgh based Certified Perinatal Doula Practitioner and yoga instructor. It is my passion to support mothers and birthing families on their journey to bring their babies into the world and honor their unique story through birth and postpartum. I am a trained Perinatal Doula, which means I support during the Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum periods.

I come to this work not only as a trained doula, but as a mother whose own path to parenthood was shaped by resilience, hope, and profound transformation. I’m an infertility warrior who learned to advocate fiercely for my own body and my dreams, and I’m also a cesarean birth mother whose ultimate path to motherhood unfolded differently than I first imagined. My experiences have shaped me in countless ways and strengthened my desire to provide support for women and families on their paths to parenthood. These experiences are now woven into every part of the support that I offer and taught me that every journey is unique, powerful and worthy of compassion and respect.

I truly believe birth is transformational and introduces you to your new self. I am honored to be considered part of your birthing journey and will hold space for your story, your choices and your strength - no matter how your path unfolds.

What’s Behind the Name?

A design featuring a white line drawing of an owl with a baby owl on its chest, surrounded by floral elements, on a gold background with cursive white text reading 'Doula Care'.

Sova means “owl” in Ukrainian and while owls have a very special meaning to my family and my family’s roots are Ukrainian, across many cultures the owl is a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and steady watchfulness through the night. These qualities are deeply aligned with my doula work — offering calm presence in vulnerable moments, quiet guidance rooted in knowledge, and unwavering support through long hours of waiting and becoming.

Like the owl, a doula sits nearby holding space with patience and trust, offering gentle guidance while honoring the strength already within.
